The RAYNET WARP
The RAYNET Warning Advice and Reporting Point, or RAYWARP for short aims to provide members
with a one stop shop for queries and bug reports.
Supported by CPNI, the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure, WARPs (Warning, Advice and Reporting
Points) are part of CPNI's information sharing strategy to protect the UK's Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) from
electronic attack. As a Voluntary organisation concerned with a range of communication technologies we should look to protecting our own systems
from failure so that they are available when assistance is requested during an emergency.
The WARP service aims to provide to members :-
- A trusted source of warnings about bugs and vulnerabilities in software.
- A place to report bugs in software
- A place to get advice on security issues with software
- A place to locate software of interest to the RAYNET community

Access to services
Operation of the WARP depends upon a level of trust being developed between the members. As such access to full
WARP services is limited to interested and currently registered members of the Radio Amateurs' Emergency Network. As
confidence in the system grows, the Network will consider extending services outside our own User Group consistant with
the business plan submitted to and accepted by CPNI.
Members will be able to :-
- Access a database containing known software bugs in most current operating systems.
- Receive e-mail notifications of new bugs.
- Contribute to and access a section of the database dealing specifically with Amateur Radio based software.
- Be able to submit reports of bugs and security issues which will be anonymised and passed to other WARP operators.
Public Services
Security is everyone's problem. As such publically available information on viruses and hoax e-mails will be made available
via this site via the 'Virus Warnings' button on the left of this page. There are specific WARPs for home users and
professional users and more details may be found via the links page or from the
WARP Register
The links page will also point users to freely available security tools to assist them in securing their own computers.
